"Wyandah" is an Aboriginal word for horse.

Wyandah Performance Horses was established by Michael and Susie Clayton to enrich and complement the breeding and selection of dressage horses available in Australia.

Our aim is to produce potential Grand Prix riding horses that not only possess the talent but are also of impeccable temperament, conformation and rideability. Put simply, the best of the best.

what we do

StPr Denira (De Niro/Hohenstein/Bolero)

St Pr Denira (De Niro/Hohenstein/Baryshnikov)

Following a very steep learning curve and with much guidance from established breeders both here and in Europe, we have diversified our impressive local breeding lines by importing the first three of a number of superb German mares to our herd here at Wyandah.

The first to arrive at the end of 2010 was a beautiful chestnut filly named Florida II. By Florestan I out of a Donnerhall/Pik Bube mare, she represents many of the foundation lines of German breeding. Florida II has been going beautifully under saddle as well as producing a spectacular black colt (now a gelding) in 2013 by San Amour. She is currently in foal again to Sir Donnerhall and due to foal August 2016.

The next 2 mares arrived early December 2011. Dalinea S (Sandro Hit/De Niro/Weltmeyer) in foal to Blue Hors Romanov and Weltferne (Swarovski/Fuerst Heinrich/Weltmeyer) in foal to Hotline. Both mares foaled July 2012. An update to this news (2015) is that Dalinea S had a short but very successful eventing career start with Stuart Tinney, until we decided to put her in foal again. This time Dali has produced a spectacular black filly by Fuerstenball.

Dali and Weltferne's foals from July 2012 (Rasmus and Houdini) have been started under saddle and are going beautifully.

Weltferne has had 2 years successfully competing with Emma Bishop and was named on the Equestrian Australian Futures Recognition Squad 2015. She is currently in foal to Sezuan and due late 2016.

Over the next 2 years, we will be importing a number of performance tested mares to our small breeding farm. Lines from stallions such as Sezuan, De Niro, Foundation and Danciano. Please visit our news page for the latest information on what's happening at the moment. We look forward to seeing you here at Wyandah.
